After speaking to the manufacturer's company tech rep today, June 9, 2011, I have been informed that this is a 'convection' broiler/grill. If you want your steak overcooked, dried out, and tough, buy this product. The Btu's reaching the cooking surface are inadequate,it does not 'char' the outside of the steak, the steak is well done throughout, and the end product will be and is a dismal failure and a disappointment for long time propane or charcoal barbecuing aficionados. Two U-shaped burners, with 16,000 Btu's per burner, do not provide the heat to cook anything. The manufacturer implies, in the specs, through artifice/implication, that the two 16,000 burners combine to produce 32,000 Btu's of heat to the cooking surface(s), which is patently ridiculous. As an example,if you are using only one burner, all you are going to get to the cooking surface is 16,000 Btu's. My impression from talking to the tech rep at the manufacturer is that, take it or leave it, it is their best. To top it off, there are no recipes offered to the consumer/buyer, no suggestions on how to prepare your meat et al. Implied guidance from the tech rep? Just wing it! For $1710.00, this product is an overpriced and over-hyped failure. Of course, after my complaints about this monstrosity to the dealer, I was told that I got what I paid for and sue the manufacturer, R. H. Peterson. That translated to a suggestion to essentially take a hike and to stuff it before leaving on my trek to barbecuing no-man's land with a $1,700.10 piece of junk. Stay away from AOG products, they are the pits and a waste of money.
